The Minong Flowage Association (MFA) is a non-profit 501(3)C organization whose lake property owners have a common goal to help maintain the quality of our precious water, surrounding shorelines and the lake life we cherish.
As a voice for lake property owners, the MFA provides an avenue for input of ideas and concerns. We work directly with the DNR, county and state regulators to find the most practical and cost-effective means to maintain the health and beauty of the lake.
Unfortunately, in recent years our lake we call home has been challenged with a huge influx of invasive species both in the lake and surrounding shorelines. Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM) is currently the most problematic non-native, aquatic invasive species in the Minong Flowage.
The costs to manage invasive species is daunting. In years past, we have been fortunate enough to have some financial support through a variety of grants. Our Aquatic Plant Management (APM) plan for 2024 – 2028 is estimated to run nearly $150,000. Due to sparse funding, we are unlikely to see much of anything for quite a few years. We invite you to read more about this process on our website and Facebook page.
We look to you as property owners, neighbors, friends, and supporting businesses to lend a hand by becoming a new or renewing member or contributing donor of the MFA. Our continued strength is the size of our organization. Membership dues assist in the annual costs of management activities, newsletters, maintaining our website and email systems that isn’t covered through grants. It’s a team effort.
